Why is Bayani's
story important?

Employers have a legal responsibility to check in with their employers and exercise a duty of care.

There are procedures on how to handle mental health in the workplace, you don't have to be a therapist to start a conversation.

Workplace events and situations can affect all levels of the workforce, therefore it is very important to make sure that all employees are supported internally by their manager and through the systems and processes in the business.

What can you do?

Create a system and process to ensure managers can have conversations with employees regularly regarding how they are, how they feel about the role and the workplace. You can ensure employees know of these processes and systems through workplace policies.

Create a system and process that can support managers to have ‘difficult’ conversations in the workplace and identify any ‘red flags’ when it comes to employees behaviour and performance.

If your company does utilise an external company for additional support for employees for counselling, external supervision, debriefing etc. Have the information readily available for all employees. Provide a flyer or information regarding the service during induction or on-boarding pack so employees know that they have this support if needed.
